“I highly recommend Alisa Nakano for her exceptional work in teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to my daughter during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her decades of experience and outstanding educational background were evident in every lesson. Even during such challenging times, she managed to keep my child engaged. She expects the highest standards from her students, pushing them to reach their full potential while providing unwavering support. Additionally, she was incredibly flexible with scheduling, always accommodating our needs, and consistently followed up to ensure progress. Her dedication, expertise, and ability to connect with her students made all the difference. We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact she has had on my daughter's life.”

“Alisa is an absolute gem. She has been my tutor for a very long time. She is attentive, caring, and tailors her lessons to each tutees needs. She has a natural skill for teaching, has many years of experience, and it clearly shows. She is a great ASL tutor for all levels.”

“Being referred to Alisa through an online listing of Deaf ASL teachers was a turning point for me. I had always believed that learning ASL would be impossible due to my autism-related challenges, especially with visual motor coordination and processing. However, Alisa sparked a can-do attitude in me, and within just three months, I felt a sense of inclusion in Deaf culture that I never thought possible. This journey has been a thrilling process of self-discovery, transforming how I perceive myself and how others perceive me. Learning to communicate in a new language has taught me the value of patience in being understood. Thanks to Alisa, I no longer feel voiceless.”

“I've been using Alisa as an ASL tutor for several years now. I had already taken several college ASL classes but without being able to practice with anyone after I was no longer in college, I began to lose my knowledge and skill! I looked online and tried 3-4 tutors, Alisa being the last one. I ditched the others and stuck with Alisa because she made it so easy to learn! Everyone has different learning styles, time, and comfort levels. For me, I didn't like the structure of some of the other tutors. Alisa catered to my learning style, which was just regular conversation in ASL. The dialogue has always been fairly even so that we are both putting in the same amount of effort in signing.”
